Hello,

Recent federal policy changes have introduced significant uncertainty for the individuals and families we serve. Evolving legal barriers and shifting rhetoric disproportionately impact marginalized communities, creating fear and discouraging individuals from seeking the help they need. Immigrants, survivors of domestic violence, LGBTQ+ individuals, and BIPOC clients are facing heightened challenges, making our commitment to accessible legal services more critical than ever.

At St. Andrew Legal Clinic, we see firsthand how these challenges affect our clients—parents seeking stability for their children, survivors of domestic violence pursuing safety, and individuals navigating complex family law matters. These are not abstract policy debates; they are real-life struggles with profound consequences. That is why we at St. Andrew Legal Clinic are reaffirming our unwavering commitment to serving and protecting all clients.

As always, our commitment remains steadfast: to ensure access to justice for all, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance. At St. Andrew Legal Clinic, we are not dependent on federal funding to deliver our legal services. Our sliding-scale model is a sustainable financial model that has enabled us to provide essential services for the past 45 years. We are, however, seeing a greater need for our legal services than ever. Every week, we refer out around 70% of cases because of a lack of resources.

The road ahead presents new obstacles, from increased family separations to shifting legal protections for vulnerable individuals. In response, we are strengthening partnerships with fellow nonprofits and community organizations to expand our reach and support those in greatest need.

We know that meeting these challenges requires collective effort and ongoing advocacy and SALC is committed to the work ahead. Your support allows us to continue our critical work—providing legal assistance to those who need it most and ensuring that justice remains accessible to all.

Thank you for standing with us in our mission,

Maxine Tuan
